I'm very much pro Open Source, in fact I go much further in this regard, I make 90% of my code open source too, negating any of my commercial work since the company owns that. I not only subscribe to open source, I'm also into Open Hardware (see RepRap). As for OS, you said it best 'your a fan' of Linux, hey thats cool, I'm not going to beat you down for it (hey it works for you and thats cool with me), I say use whatever OS works for you. In my case I've grown up with MS, XP works good enough for me. Don't forget this OS is over 8 years old and is now rock solid and runs with modest hardware, I'll you give that Linux can run on even less powerful hardware, but to be honest computing power is in abundance now. As for knowing whats going on, I do know whats going on, being a Computer Scientist AND Mechanical & Electronic Engineer, means I'm in a unique position where I can describe how a computer works, from its atomic (e.g Thermally Generated Electron Whole Pairs) interactions and all the way up past the inner workings of the ALU in terms of adders circuits, in terms of micro code, its opcodes, its assembly iso-mapping, etc but even I would not dare claim I know how a computer works completely, because the more I study it the more complex it gets, from that perspective I still know nothing. But how does my humble knowledge help me in my day to day computing needs? well not a lot to be frank. Of course in rare cases, it does come in handy :) e.g during interviews, when I was quizzed why I didn't use a recursion algorithm, I actually wrote an entire paper where I did actual benchmarks and showed why recursions are slower than using semi-dynamic/static arrays. And yes, I have read this comic all the way to the end, it did have some moments, but I had to groan at some of the Bias, thats my only critique. Its not a bad comic per say, I just wish the author would be a little more mature than use crude satire (at times). @Doug, Hi Doug, let me apologize as I can see my last comment may have may have come across as a tad forceful :)

You probably aren't coiming back in a while, but I digress) The "Microsoft sucks" trend has not died out. It lives and is growing. In fact, I don't think it really stopped. This comic IS appealing, intelligent, and, yes, funny. You just, simply, aren't the target market. This is a comic for Linux and Open Source enthusiasts, not every geek will appreciate the humor (like Mac fans, or Windows fans), but for the target, it has caused laughter so uproarious that it causes pain. Now, before you group me with these closed-minded people, I am an Open Source enthusiast and a fan of Linux, but that is because I like the comfort of knowing that I can see what's running in my machine and, in my opinion and for my uses, Linux is more effecient and better than Windows. Not only that, but despite this, I do run Windows (XP and Vista) because it is the mainstream standard, is not an absolute bitch to run, I'll need to know Windows for certain situations (desk jobs, public computing, etc..), and also so that I may run programs that have no open source equal. And, just so that you know, Microsoft was coming in big during the 90s. During that time it was nothing but MS-DOS with a prettier, bloated shell. Despite this, if I had to choose a Windows for purely personal computing, I'd go with Windows 98. Anything later is simply crap. (Admittedly I haven't tried WinME or Win7b) @DarkNight, (though I doubt you’ll read this. You probably aren’t coiming back in a while, but I digress) The “Microsoft sucks” trend has not died out.
