Just so you know, iphone and ipod touch support pages up to 1024px width without horizontal scrolling.

I think you should do a test strip in several widths and see how readers react. They can see if it works well with their feed reader or browser.

I don't recommend it. It will drive away potential viewers, IMO; making things fit to 800x600 is a pain, but you gotta do it.

I think your current layout and comic size is pretty good. A little larger would probably be fine, but be cautious. I have a widescreen monitor with a huge resolution, as many people do. But being a geek (as I'm sure many of your readers are) I NEVER browse maximized for general surfing and web-comic reading. Just because the stats say 1024x768 doesn't mean you have anywhere near an effective 1024w to work with.

Please make *two* feeds! One with the big version and other with the small version. I'd choose the first one.

While my screen resolution is high, I never have my browser window maximized. On the contrary, the browser window is usually taking up about half to two thirds of the screen swidth, giving place for a terminal next to it. Even on my (new and shiny) 1900x1200 desktop monitor my browser width is currently 869 pixels. On my laptop with a 1400x1050 resolution the browser window is, naturally, even narrower. In conclusion, I wouldn't be very happy with the strip being 900 pixels wide. Of course, it's also not really that important - I'll live happily either way. :-)
