It’s exactly how I’d feel if they tried to ‘promote’ me to PM.

I once worked for a company where they’d ‘promote’ the bad developers to project management. Mostly the idea was to get them to cause less harm to the code base.

@zoid hehe Randie is mad for all those reasons, but above all because Bob thinks that a PM is a “promotion”, like if it were better to be a PM than a “simple developer”, while Randie sees it, obviously, just as a different job, and not a better one that deserves the qualification of “promotion”.

@MoffDub: same thing answers you: Randie is mad because Bob thinks that the PM is a better job (a promotion) than “simple developer”, while it is really just a different one (not better, different!).

Hm first time I don’t quite get it.
Is Randy mad either because Bob referes to himself as experienced or skilled, because ‘dumbass-Bob’ got promoted, because he was called “simple programmer”, because he was to be promoted to a “manager”, because he is supposed to “replace Bob” or because he should think of it as an honour. Honestly, there is so much wrong in the few sentences Bob says – I can’t figure it out.

Anyway, I believe the most logical (according to “manager-logic”, not -err – actual logic) choice for the new job would be Ross, wouldn’t he? Or maybe we see Moss again …
