A chatbot already passed a turing test of sorts… granted it was meant to be rather stupid ( “u r cute”, “cybr plz?” ), but not a single person thought it was a bot.

Change is one crucial thing in cyborg hatred, the other, and perhaps even bigger one, is the need for people to feel safe, in other words people like to think they are the kings and queens of the universe.

When a robot comes and says, “hi, can I be human, too? (with my uber math skills and stuff!)”, the natural reaction for many would be fear and through fear, hatred. That’s not too different from the sandbox case where a bully punches the weird guy *just because*. We are so afraid of something we don’t fully understand and conquer, and yet deep inside we are jealous of.

I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords ;)
