Where the idea that emacs is an OS where it comes from exactly?

It is a multi purpose program that can be used for many tasks, sure... but surely not an OS...

Just think to its memory management:
E ventually
M allocs
A ll
C omputer
S torage

agh.. mann.. i didn't expect that much! grouping emacs and m$ word together! X-(

atleast you can't compare an OS with a piece of crap!

moreover i didn't think you wouldn't be essentially doing text editing while you type in your email message!

I think we're all very closed-minded here...
M$ gave the world the perfect tools that are universal: Word for documents, emails, pictures, logs, web sites and even code, Excel for charts, project management, scientific analyses, and, sometimes, even spreadsheets. PowerPoint it great for step-by-step tutorials (and for error tracing... since we asked how the error happened), Access as the most beautiful database ever (I mean... common... have you ever looked at those MySQL tables... the look terrible...).
And we're mocking all that... shame on us!

@AntAreS oh my, that's terrible! A client, at a job far away in the past, used to send me a backtrace in a Word document. He would go as far as SSHing to the server, opening the log file, copying the log, pasting it into Word, and email that. After I made him notice how stupid that was, he emailed me his resumé and called me explaining that he wasn't born yesterday, and was very technical and stuff. Really lame.
