like GNUbie said, Ali would not sign a piece of paper that was printed from Windows even for getting a jobâ€¦ so IMHO his limits are far far away from accepting to use a twitter account.

Anyway, communicating with twitter users don’t prevent him to also use identi.ca: he can use an identi.ca account and automatically send his notices to twitter (http://identi.ca/settings/twitter).

@GNUbie, Ali has his limits. If he refused to use all the websites that don’t open their source code, he’d be left out of 90% of the Internet. And that open 10% would be comprised at 90% by crappy blogs anyway, since Wordpress is so widespread.

First, doesn’t Ali have total control of “Tools and Technology”. I do not think you could get Twitter by him (come on, he would not sign a piece of paper that was printed from Windows).

To @Oliver and @ashbringer: Yes, they should use identi.ca. But the point is to operate in the open, not to use an open service, in this case. They are compromising because on Twitter they’d have more audience.
Also, because they now really have twitter accounts, and people are more likely to follow on twitter than on identi.ca, since they’re already on Twitter. Network effect, I know. :(
